Tucked away in the southwest corner of Los Angeles County is the South Bay, a collection of cities known for its renowned beaches and laidback lifestyle. Although located a short distance from Los Angeles, the South Bay cities have a welcoming, small-town feel, perfectly complementing the pleasant year-round weather.

The South Bay has so much to offer residents. The local beaches are home to some of Southern California’s best surfing and beach volleyball destinations, as well as The Strand, a 22-mile paved bike path that links the South Bay to Santa Monica. For those who prefer to be indoors, the South Bay has many restaurants and boutiques that are sure to please any palate.

Local festivals and seasonal events are held every year in many of the South Bay cities. From the Manhattan Beach Hometown Fair, Fiesta Hermosa over Memorial Day to the 4th of July fireworks in El Segundo, each event is a huge draw for the community and a great celebration for each city.

The area is also known for its exceptional public school system. Manhattan Beach Unified School District is noted as one of the country's best performing school districts. In addition, universities such as California State University Dominguez Hills, Loyola Marymount University, and community colleges Los Angeles Harbor College and Torrance’s El Camino College all call the South Bay home.
